The need for social care workers will increase over the coming decades as the number of elderly people increases as a proportion of the population.
The need to recruit highly motivated individuals with a commitment to making social care their career of choice will continue to be challenging, especially in view of the fact that in some areas retention is poor.
It is widely recognised that a commitment to high quality training and a culture that encourages the development of resilience in the workforce are key factors in increasing staff engagement and retention.
AIM OF COURSE:
To provide new entrants to the social care sector with the knowledge and skills to prepare them for the challenges and rewards of working in this sector.
To provide new staff with the resilience skills needed to cope with what can be a challenging job, and an understanding of how they can further develop their knowledge and skills in order to develop a long term and rewarding career in social care.
